Truck Rental – Pricing

One of the first things to check when comparing pricing from truck rental companies is whether or not it includes all fees, taxes and other costs. Always make sure you are comparing apples to apples, including similar sizes, quality of trucks and customer service.

Also consider fuel costs when you are comparing renting a truck to container based moving or full service professional movers. When you pick up your truck, the gas tank should be full. Make sure you ask about the vehicle's gas consumption and work this into your moving costs. A fully-loaded 26-foot truck will average about 10 miles per gallon.

Money Saving Tips:

  • Save by picking up and dropping off the truck in the same location, if possible.
  • Avoid busy months (May through August) to get lower rates
  • Check the mileage fee and see if there is any bargaining room on the cost
  • If paying your deposit with a credit card, ask about their policies – when do they charge the fee and do they hold extra credit aside in case of damage?
