Change of Address

One of the most important things you should do during your move of course is to change your address officially with the post office. This is true because obviously you need to stay on top of your bills and other important mail as well as to not miss any letters from friends. The easiest way to change you address is to go on line to the US postal service’s change of address webpage….which you can do on HomePoints. You can also do it at a local post office of course by filling out a form that is usually near the entrance.

Remember:

  • To include the names of everyone who is moving with you.
  • To check the time frame for any mail forwarding – depending on your town, first class mail might only be forwarded for one year. Periodicals, things like newspapers and magazines, often are only forwarded for 60 days.
  • To send out change of address cards to everyone you do business with and to all creditors. These change of address cards are available at the post office for free.
